SVUSD Recreation offers basketball for kids ages 4-14. Seasons are in the winter, fall, spring and summer and ususally last 8 weeks. Teams are coached by volunteers (usually parents of players) and games are overseen by staff.
Beginning Basketball League
This is for children ages 4 - 7. You can sign up for the Friday night league, the Saturday league, or the Sunday league. Friday night games are played between 5:30 and 8:30 PM. Saturday and Sunday games are played between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. Orientations are January 23, 24 and 25, 2009. See SVUSD's brochure to see the orientation time for your child's age group. Children must be 4 years old by the start of the program. Fee of $75 includes t-shirt and shorts.
Boys Basketball League
This is for children ages 8-14. Your child must attend the evaluation on November 15, 2008. At the evaluation, coaches observe children's abilities in various basketball related skills. Coaches later meet to draft players. This helps ensure that all teams have a mix of new and experienced players so they'll be as evenly matched as possible.

Triple Threat Basketball Academy
This basketball skills training program for children in 3rd through 8th grades is held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Fee is $40 per week, and sessions are limited to 10 players, so sign up early.
Beeuwsaert Basketball Clinic
This clinic helps children master the fundamentals of basketball. The class is held in December 2008 through March 2009 at La Paz Intermediate from 5:00-6:00pm. 3rd through 5th graders meet on Tuesdays, and 6th to 8th graders meet on Thurdays.
